Setting ur Computer Moniter to low contrast and bright damage ur eyes?

All my friends and family keep telling me that i should put more bright and contrast to my screen or else ill damage my eyes.. I use the computer a lot (4-6 hours a day). When i use other's computers for few hours i get eye pain or my eye dryness cuz they use way too high contrast.. I dont set it to dark that u can really barely see, just a little low.
