I must be dense but I can't find out how to add an attachment to a message in my group account?

Everything I read about Groups says you can have attachments. I have attachments turned on but can't seem to find a way to attach to a message. I have even tried to cut and paste in the message area, which doesn't work. Any help would be greatly appreciated...
