How can I change my display image on Yahoo Messenger?

I am on a Mac so I'm running Yahoo Messenger beta 3.0 and as of the past couple of weeks, I haven't been able to change my display image. I have gone through Preferences and I have used the little square on the buddy list to change it, but neither works...

When I go to My display image in Preferences and browse ---> add---->thn Select that image also......again ok..... But that image is not being displayed .....

followed all the yahoo instructions to the letter about changing the image display to one of my pictures - all I get is a black square - when I've tried to select one of the default pics all I get is a black square also - tried reloading from the yahoo...
