How can i put dvds on my ipod?

w/o buying it again on itunes or buying anything else? can i add them for free? please help if you can.. appriciate it!!

I can do it but it puts my files into ten or fifteen little 5 minute files instead of one big 2 hour file.

I've been told it can be done but it says the format is wrong.
