How do I cut out an image using Gimp?

I want to extract the image of someone and them place that image onto another background, but I don't want to have the square image, I want only the persons physical appearance, none of the other background. I have heard that it is possible using GIMP...

I want to cut and copy a page on the internet, that is an image. However, the image must be scrolled down to view it in full. How can I capture this 2 page image without having to cut and paste the 2 pages and then paste the image back together?

i tried scaling an image in gimp since i dont have photoshop and it looks really bad basically the overall size of the image is about 1920x resolution so its a really big image except i have to scale the width down to a few hundred it doesnt look proportional...

i want to reduce the size of an image using gimp and when i scale it it just blurrs the image is there another way?

im making a twoface image and im trying to put an eyeball from one gimp image to another i tried free select ad feathering but it wouldnt work..am i doing something wrong?

Ive got Gimp software editing program on my computer. Ive seen some images where they have a 'copyright text , or url text' written on to show were the image originated from. Does anyone know how I do this ?

I want to cut out and paste part of a picture into another. I use GIMP and I have tried all i can. And i cant do it by tracing the object, because i just don't have a steady hand. HELP?!??!
