How do I delete the yahoo search from my toolbar?

Don't have Yahoo Toolbar - just to the left of the WEB SEARCH box on Yahoo's Home Page, every time you enter something and click web search, it "retains" the word (s) typed in and the list just grows and grows. How do you delete this list that...

i cannot delete these search words from toolbar search? in the main window u can delete them...what has happened now?

I have a couple of search terms I want to delete but cannot. This is not in the 'search web' box. It's just a blank box with a dropdown menu where the old search terms appear.
