How do you change your old email address to a new one?

I want to change my regular e mail address to my new one. The old one was badeeah1@earthlink.net and the new one is: badeeah1@clearwire.net

After a friend changes email address, even tho I update it in my contacts, delete the old one - it still pops up as an option in the autofil list. So I have to be really careful and make sure I use the right one. How can I make the old ones go away,...
