I heard Finch and Jane is very bad area to live in. I am planning to rent a place at Islington and Finch West in Toronto for a few months. How safe is this area?

Also, I'm getting to Islington Station from Mississauga Transit. Can I use my transfer to get on a bus or subway from there? Or will I need to pay again? If so, how much?
