How to download shared photos on Flickr?

I tried using the Flickr API. I am able to download the photos, but I am unable to get the metadata (tags, exif info etc). But how do I get the metadata? Anyone has any prior experience with using Flickr API?

I would like to just be able to save my photos on my computer without using flickr or any other site, flickr does not allow you to open your photos a look at them in full view. Some pictures are also just personal and I dont want them on the internet...
