Is there a way to change a name on Messenger?

i want to change the way a friends name is displayed in Yahoo Messenger. When I change their name in Contact Details through Messenger, I get this error. "An error occurred while saving the contact information to the server." Does anyone know...

on the main messenger screen it suddently shows my full legal name along side my message when I send. On the email screen chat it shows just my first name and on webmessenger it shows my yahooID. Why the difference and how do I remove my full legal name...

The older versions of Yahoo messenger never had this problem. If I make a new profile it uses the name I enter there too. Is there a way to just have it display my user ID, not my name?

I know that there's an option to show your "nickname or first and last name" or "yahoo ID" but I was wondering if there's a way for me to edit my nickname/first&last name on yahoo messenger so it will display something else?
