What are some possible uses for a video camera?

i was thinking maybe some kind of editing software or something? or a gadget or accesory? he usually uses the camera while camping/hiking. can't be more than $60

i've been watching the show for awhile, and i'm taking keen interest on the thing wyatt uses to record the show, besides his other webcam thing. it kinda looks like an mp3 player, but i'm not so sure about it. anyone know what brand it is?

what do i do if i have not got the software package that came with the camera to put my vids onto my computer? is there a way of getting or downloading it?
