I'm in the Midwest btw, I've heard generally higher salaries are on the East and West coasts. But what type of salary would I earn in insurance sales and in outside sales? Those are two jobs I have interviews for.

What should somebody who wants to get into sales but doesn't have a lot of (recent) experience look for?  Avoiding commission only jobs, or jobs where you have to pay for something up front to get started.

I was offered a no salary but a straight 10% commission. Is that average? What is the average for a straight commission no salary sales job? Thanks for you help, Johnny
