What is the difference between pc cd-rom and pc dvd rom?

my world of warcrack CD says DVD rom on it while my full spectrum warrior CD says PC CD-rom i have 2 disc trays on my PC can i put the PC CD-ROM disc in the DVD rom disc tray? i am asking this because my PC CD-ROM disc tray broke
