What's inside a Mosquito bite, and why does it swell up?

Friday night I was outside and I got bit by a mosquito in the foot. I didn't think much of it..it started itching the next day so I put some Benedryl anti itching gel, it went away for a few hours then the itch came back so I put the gel on again. Today...
