What's wrong with wearing white after labor day?

Well, I have more like two questions. 1. Why can't you wear white after labor day? 2. When is it officially after labor day? Isn't it always after labor day? Thanks!!

I don't care but when I was in High School I wore white small heels and they told me "Your wearing white after labor day"? So when does the after part end cause the way I look at it everyday is after labor day or does it end when the year ends...

I'm visiting New York in September and my stay will coincide with Labor Day. As i am not American i don't know what to expect. Will everything be closed? Will it be really busy? I tried searching the net but got nothing. Thank You

I was just thinking about the movie Serial Mom. Kathleen Turner killed the juror for wearing white after Labor Day. Which is why I ask that question.

Is there a date to wear white again? Is it a certain season or month or day? Even if the "no white after Labor Day" rule is fading, I'd like to know when white was allowed back in the wardrobes of yesteryear.

My friend told me after labor day at the end of August; I am not suppose to wear white at all - even if we still have hot temperature and sunshine? She told me it is a fashion crime! So is this true?
