Why did i get extra time during my gcse exams?

i don't have dyslexia (as far as i know of :S) & i wasn't sure why they offered it to me in the first place for? i did decline the offer in the end now take the test with the correct time required because i felt guilty but i wouldn't mind having it back tbh as with my recent exams i have been running out of time, but i'd imagine that would be normal. would i get it back when i hit college? like is it on my record or something? & how do they determine if a student needs extra time or not?

Answer:

Do you write really slowly/have handwriting problems? That's why people at my school got extra time.
