Where can I find organic powdered dye?

I'm African-American and my hair is a DARK brown. But I want to dye my hair with either purple or pink hair dye. Do any of you know where I could find those colors of dye without having to bleach my hair first?

I am trying to do a simple tie dye project and can not find any fabric dye at wal-mart or target. There are kits but they only dye small garmets and do not have the right colors. I do not want to order online so please any ideas of craft stores or places...
