Can I still get my original DS repaired?

I have my original DS still, not the DS Lite, and it seems to have trouble reading game cards. I have researched the matter, and the conclusion that I have come up with is that I either A. need to get it repaired, or B. need to get a Lite as a replacement. Either way, I'll likely have to wait a couple weeks to get a functioning DS. However, I know that the original DS is no longer in production, so I am uncertain if I can get it repaired. Can I?
