Where to go outside London?

Soo yeah I live in Battersea and I was wondering is there places outside I can sit and use my laptop? instead of having to go into places like pubs, bars and coffee shops just to get free wifi.... I was thinking of going to battersea park to try and...

i am looking for a nice daytrip outside london anywhere but brighton or cambridge.

So I'm planing to take my partner out this weekend and was thinking about a city, park or a beach, around London but not too far, any ideas or suggestions ?
