Which Eurail pass can I buy?

From the website it says you must buy your Eurail pass in America. I am already in Italy but have a friend coming to visit next month. Where can I go locally and / or how do I find ...show more

This summer I'm going to Italy, Croatia, and Greece. Greece doesn't have a rail. I'm just wondering if it is still a better deal to get the pass then to get one for each country or get one each time we go on the train. It's confussing!

Or should I buy it earlier? And is August a suitable time for travelling in Europe? The beaches still warm?
