Which program is better for Kinetic Typography?

A program for kinetic typography and typography animation? and one you can add music to

I would like to purchase a program for typography, but not over the internet. The internet can be quite sketchy. Do you know of any stores in northern Delaware or southern Pennsylvania?

I use photoshop, but I'm just wondering if theres a better alternative?

All i really need is to be able to edit the space in between letters, the thickness of the letters and make high resolution images out of the text i made. Any suggestions?
