Does PSP-3004 turn off automatically after charging is complete?

I have a PSP-3004 and it automatically turns off after the charging is complete. Actually, I left my PSP-3004 for charging and when I came back after 1 and 1/2 hr, the PSP was turned off and when I started it the battery was fully charged. It worked fine after that. I use 5.03 MHU. So, is this normal?
