Relatively recently(about 2 months), I have not been able to connect to any of my regular Minecraft servers. I would love to resolve this issue since I would like to play with my friend. I have never had this problem before, and yes, I have tried uninstalling and then installing again.

It may be a firewall issue and I would check to make sure that your firewalls aren't stopping minecraft...
