Why can't I see my own font on MSN?

I was on msn to a friend & they can see themselves & me i can see them but cant see me on my screen it is grey has a picture of a webcam and a red cross

On My Msn, when you have a converstion on it (On msn Messgaer) I cant see the icons it happened once, so if i put Those :D :S :O Faces It Dont Come up on my Side. Why Cant I see Them?
