Why do we have a runny nose when we are sick?

For the last year and half, I have been congested especially in the morning as if I am running a fever or sick, but I am not sick. Every time I get up in the morning, within in a minute or so my nostril fills with clear mucus and little bit of boogers...

when im outside and its windy i feel like playing outside but when i go inside i get all runny nose stuffed nose and sometimes my head hurts?

When I'm at gym, I run outside, and my nose gets runny. Why?

This happens in the morning usually. During my first period class in school when i take a test. The odd thing is that when i don't take a test and just listen to a lecture i don't get a runny nose. What's going on...? >.<

and whats the difference between runny nose and sinusitis? i have it for 3 days now and its pretty annoying! i could not function well and i wanna know whats the effective home remedy for this aside from nasal spray? what to eat, take, do etc. Doctors...

It happens in this order every time i get sick. Starts with a ton of sneezing, then followed by a severe sore throat, then finally a horrible cough where i have to take shallow breathes because its hard to breath. The whole process takes about 1-2 weeks...
