Why does external monitor keep going out?

My monitor goes to sleep in the middle of typing. It won't wake up no matter how much I wiggle the mouse and hit keys on the key board. The only way to wake it up is to reboot the entire system. In an effort to fix this I have updated my graphics driver...

I realize this question has been asked before but I can't find one that matches my situation. I have an HP-W1907 flat screen monitor and it has been only staying on for about 3 seconds before going instantly black, I can hit the monitor power button...

HP 2009m monitor keep going to sleep when I turn on desktop

Ok so my monitor just randomly goes black when i am on the computer. My computer doesn't go off ,but to get the monitor back on i have to restart the computer. Advice? Thanks!

Ill be online and then all of a sudden my computer will shut itself off and mointor going to sleep will pop up on tha screen. I dont know why it keeps doing that. It will do it bout every 15-20 mins while on my computer.

new monitor i checked the cord on another pc that is fine, moving mouse or pressing keyboard doesn't help.
