Why is adiabatic process isentropic?

I have read that adiabatic process is isentropic because there is no heat exchange in an adiabatic process and thus no change in entropy. But my question is - Even in adiabatic process, work can be done. Let's take an example of an adiabatic vessel with a piston attached. That vessel does not exchange heat but work can be done by pulling in or out the piston. If the volume of the system changes, isn't entropy also changed, even in a reversible adiabatic process? EDIT : I know that change in entropy...

Why is dry adiabatic cooling a perfectly adiabatic process?

An adiabatic process is often referred to as perfectly reversible. That is, an adiabatic process involved in a change in temperatures from T1 to T2 can be reversed by an adiabatic change in temperature from T2 to T1 (i.e. dq = 0 throughout).Explain why...

Im trying to find the work done in this adiabatic process?

i mean i think its an adiabatic process, i really hope it is or im totally lost on this stuff. okay heres the question "in a perfectly insulated container 1.0 kg of water is stirred vigorously until its temperature rises by 7 degrees celcius. how...

Answer:

W= (P1V1 - P2V2)/ gamma - 1 = 1.0 kg of water + energy = heat Therefore the answer is "beer"...
