Why won't my avatar display?

Yesterday I wanted to change my display image on my Yahoo messenger and it wouldn't change. Instead I see a black box. My friend said it still showed up as the old image to her. I switched to my avatar and that worked fine, my friend could see it too...

I cannot make every time i want to change my avatar display. it always display a male while i am a female.

I fixed my Y avatar yesterday and it didnt change when i logged on here. I went to edit my prefrences and selected the pic of my new avatar and now my pic is blank. what happened?

I know HOW to upload an avatar and change my display name(I've been a user since 2008, this is my second account) but it won't save! This has not happened to me before! Is anyone else having this problem?
