How do I open emails with doc attachments?

Why does Adobe try to make me pay when I try to open attachments or print forms.

I hav Windows Vista and am receiving emails with attachments in doc format but can't open them. I get a message saying my security setting won't allow it. Set it down to the bottom, still can't open.
