Where is a nice tropical place to live and go to school?

Im thinking about moving to LA for the summer with a couple of friends, and go to school and hopefully intern. My friends are interested in acting and going to auditions where would be a good place for all of us to locate?

I'm only 20 and moving out of my families' house. I have a full time job now, but when I move to Oklahoma with my gf, I wanna go back to school. So what's the best place I can live, where I can find a job and afford an apartment?
